CLASSIC CARS & MOTORCYCLES 2026: BOLOGNA CELEBRATES TWO-WHEEL HISTORY, FROM GRAND PRIX LEGENDS TO COLLECTOR ICONS
From Valentino Rossi to Mick Doohan, from Atessa’s two-strokes to rare 500cc Grand Prix bikes. BolognaFiere takes visitors on a journey through competition, collecting and motorcycle culture.
Bologna, 14 October 2026 – Grand Prix motorcycles will be among the stars of Auto e Moto d'Epoca 2026, taking place at BolognaFiere from 22 to 25 October. From the legendary 500cc two-strokes that wrote the history of Grand Prix motorcycle racing to the stars of modern MotoGP, as well as sports bikes, off-road models and the world of customisation, the event will present a journey dedicated to two wheels in Pavilion 31, bringing together some of the most representative motorcycles of the past fifty years. “In this edition,” says Alessandro Altinier, Head of the Motorcycle Area, “Pavilion 31 is not just a ‘Motorcycle Route’, but a true ‘Hall of Dreams’, designed to welcome collectors and enthusiasts of all ages and give them the opportunity to admire models, stories and testimonies from the world of two wheels.
This year, the quality and quantity of the vehicles on display are particularly impressive, with an offering capable of meeting a range of interests and expectations. I like to think that visitors will leave the pavilion happy and satisfied with what they have found, taking with them new discoveries and, why not, a few more dreams to nurture.” At the heart of the motorcycle offering will be Honda Motor Europe Ltd. Italia, bringing to Bologna one of the most important exhibitions of the Wing marque’s sporting history seen in Italy in recent years. Alongside motorcycles from private collections and leading figures in the Honda world, four exceptional examples will arrive directly from the Honda Collection Hall in Motegi, Japan: Eddie Lawson’s NSR500, Mick Doohan’s NSR500, Valentino Rossi’s RC211V and the RVF750 RC45.
The exhibition will be divided into four themed areas. The section devoted to competition will trace the evolution of Honda Grand Prix motorcycles, comparing the iconic 500cc two-strokes with the four-stroke MotoGP bikes that carried on their legacy. Alongside the NS and NSR machines ridden by riders such as Ron Haslam, Wayne Gardner, Eddie Lawson and Mick Doohan will be the RC211V that won the world championship with Valentino Rossi and the modern-era RC213V. Representing the link between past and present will be Diogo Moreira’s RC213V Pro Honda LCR, a key bike in the 2026 MotoGP season. Its presence will allow visitors to see fifty years of Honda racing motorcycle development in one place.
From Grand Prix racing, the exhibition will move on to off-road, with a selection of models that have shaped the history of off-road motorcycling: from the pioneering 1973 Elsinore CR250 to the CR125R, CR250 and CR500, and the XR600, one of the bikes that helped build Honda’s reputation in enduro and major rallies. There will also be ample space for production models that have become true icons for enthusiasts. These include the CBR900RR FireBlade,
the NS400R, the VFR750R RC30 and the RVF750 RC45, together with two examples of the Africa Twin XRV650, a symbol of the era of great African raids. Of particular interest is the RC30 associated with Joey Dunlop, one of the motorcycles that best represents Honda’s philosophy of transferring technologies and solutions developed in competition to road bikes. A dedicated section will also focus on Italian production at the Atessa plant. The NS125F, NSR125F and several versions of the NSR125R will tell the story of the eighth-litre sports bikes that shaped an entire generation of Italian motorcyclists in the 1980s and 1990s. Among them will be Lucio Cecchinello’s NSR125R Sport Production, a testament to an era when small-displacement bikes represented a vital stepping stone to competitive motorcycling. Alongside the
Alongside the Honda area, Best Bikes Garage, a group of collectors, will bring around twenty Grand Prix motorcycles to Bologna, with particular focus on the increasingly rare and sought-after 500cc two-strokes. The announced models include the Cagiva 500, the last two Paton 500s to race in the Grand Prix World Championship, Kevin Schwantz’s Suzuki 500, Lucio Pedercini’s Yamaha and a very rare Suter 500, regarded as the final modern evolution of the great racing two-stroke concept. The exhibition will give the public the chance to see up close motorcycles that are rarely brought together in the same display.
The Youngtimer Dreams area will instead feature rare road bikes much coveted by collectors and enthusiasts, such as the Honda RC213V-S, a model that is particularly difficult to see in person and still has the power to make young and old alike dream.
For the second year in a row, the Italian Motorcycle Championship - Custom Bike Show will also return, the first Italian championship dedicated to custom bikes. Café Racers, Scramblers, Streetfighters, Baggers, Freestyle and Old Style bikes will compete in a selection open exclusively to motorcycles built on platforms dating from before 2006, showcasing the work of Italy’s finest customisers.
New for 2026 is Prestige Bikes, an exclusive area dedicated to motorcycles from private collections. The space will bring together examples selected for their historical, technical and collectible value, offering a new opportunity for collectors, sellers and enthusiasts from Italy and abroad to meet.
With the great stars of Grand Prix racing, Honda’s historical heritage, the custom bikes of the Custom Bike Show and the collector motorcycles of Prestige Bikes, Auto e Moto d'Epoca 2026 further strengthens its position as a European point of reference for the world of two wheels, offering a journey that brings together competition, industrial history and motorcycle culture.
