The Alfa Romeo 1900 was built between 1950 and 1959 and was the company's first entirely new postwar project.
The 1900 was advertised by Alfa Romeo with the slogan "The family car that wins races." It won races, such as the "Targa Florio" and the 1953 and 1954 editions of the "Stella Alpina." In 1951, the 1900 (C for short wheelbase) Sprint was introduced: the car's wheelbase, shortened to 2,500 mm, improved sporty handling and handling. In 1954, Alfa Romeo decided on some improvements, primarily to the engine, which was increased to 1,975 cc with a higher compression ratio, for a power output of up to 115 hp, a very high output for its displacement at the time. Of the three hundred automobiles that made up the Shah of Iran's collection, the Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint II series was apparently Reza Palhavi's "favorite." The Alfa Romeo 1900 Coupé Super Sprint (along with the 1900 C Sprint) was assembled by Carrozzeria Touring of Milan. Designed by Carlo Felice Bianchi Anderloni, it was inspired by the lines of the 6C 2500 SS "Villa d'Este" and, with some variations, remained faithful to that style for five years.
The Alfa Romeo 1900 C Super Sprint II series was built using the “Superleggera” method, which featured a body structure to which ultra-lightweight aluminum panels were attached. The second series 1900 C Super Sprint, launched in 1954, featured a larger rear window and bumpers with overriders. The “cloverleaf” front air intake, with three ovoid grilles, remained unchanged; while on the 1900 Coupé Sprint they were identical to those on the sedan, on the 1900 Coupé Super Sprint the two horizontal lateral grilles immediately distinguished the model, featuring a lighter design and incorporating two additional headlights. Another major difference was the new roof design, featuring larger glass surfaces. Just over 500 examples of this version of the 1900 C Super Sprint were produced. For the 1956 season, Carrozzeria Touring developed the latest version of the Coupè Super Sprint, which profoundly renewed the lines and was more aerodynamic.

OUR PROTAGONIST, BORN IN AN EXTREMELY RARE COLOR
Our protagonist is a Series II model in concours condition. It has won several Concours d'Elegance, including the Ancona Concours d'Elegance, the 1955 Swedish Rally, and participated in the 2001 Villa d'Este Concours d'Elegance. It has also competed in two editions of the Mille Miglia.
