In the fervent post-war years, the revival of the Italian automotive industry was accompanied by the availability of money from the first protagonists of the post-war 'boom': the entrepreneurs and celebrities from show business and the cinema, for whom the luxury sports car was the best expression of their status. The Alfa Romeo 1900 C Sprint Touring was developed in 1951 and presented at the Geneva Motor Show in the same year. It was derived from the 1900 saloon, which had been a great success because of its spacious interior and speed of up to 150 km/h, with excellent road holding. The Sprint came to meet the high demands of customers who wanted an even faster car and other models. The Touring and Pinin Farina coachbuilders were responsible for the coupé and cabriolet, customising the cars according to the buyers' wishes and creating fine custom-built cars.

The Lancia Aurelia B20 was presented at the Turin Motor Show in April 1951. A splendid high-performance coupé with great lines. It is said to have been designed by M. Felice Boano, when he was designing for the Ghia-Viotti coachworks. Production was entrusted to Pinin Farina from 1951 to 1958. It was one of the fastest Italian sports cars of the time and won many races. It participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Mille Miglia in 1951.
